Who we are

Island Jerky is responsible for the personal information collected through islandjerky.lk. We handle it in line with Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022. Contact us any time at support@islandjerky.lk.

What we collect

• Order details: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, delivery notes and the products you order.
• Messages: anything you send us by email, phone or WhatsApp.
• Technical data: standard server logs, and a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address stored with your order to prevent fraudulent or repeated orders.

We don't collect card or bank details through this website.

How we use it

• To process, confirm and deliver your order.
• To send you order emails: confirmation, dispatch and delivery updates.
• To answer your questions and handle returns or refunds.
• To keep accounting records and meet legal obligations.
• To protect the website and our customers from fraud and abuse.

We don't sell your information, and we don't send marketing messages unless you've asked us to.

Who we share it with

Only with service providers who help us run the shop, under confidentiality and data protection obligations:

• our website hosting and secure database providers;
• our email delivery provider, to send order emails;
• the courier delivering your order (name, phone and address);
• authorities, where the law requires it.

Some providers store data on servers outside Sri Lanka. Where that happens, we use providers with appropriate safeguards.

Cookies & browser storage

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The site stores a small amount of information in your own browser to work:

• Your basket (local storage), so it's still there when you come back. Clearing your browser data removes it.
• Intro animation (session storage), so the opening animation only plays once per visit.
• Staff sign-in (secure cookies), used only on the private admin area by our team.

These are strictly necessary, so no consent banner is needed.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as needed for accounting, tax and legal purposes, then delete or anonymise them. Messages are kept only as long as they're useful for helping you.

Keeping it safe

Data is encrypted in transit, stored in a database protected by access controls, and only our authorised staff can view orders.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted (unless we must keep it by law), or withdraw your consent. Email support@islandjerky.lk or call 077 356 0659. We'll respond within a reasonable time.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
